RICHMOND – Four upcoming sporting events being held in Richmond are receiving over $15,000 in combined funding from the provincial government’s Hosting BC program to help stage the competitions.

The British Columbia Team Handball Federation on November 15, 2014 is receiving $500 for the B.C. Handball Cup.
Curl B.C. is hosting the 2015 BC Wheelchair Curling Championship from January 23 to January 25, 2015, and is receiving $3,000 in funding.
B.C. Wheelchair Sports Association is receiving $1,500 in funding for the Vancouver Invitational Wheelchair Rugby Tournament, being help from March 13 to March 15, 2015.
The British Columbia Weightlifting Association is receiving $7,500 in funding for the 2015 Western Canadian Championships, being held from March 27 to March 28, 2015.
Hosting BC funds competitive level events that support long-term athlete development plans for B.C.’s provincial sport organizations.
Across B.C., 37 events in 24 communities will share $152,250 in the latest round of Hosting BC grants, provided by the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development and administered by ViaSport, a provincial non-profit leader in promoting sport and physical activity for every British Columbian.
