RICHMOND – As part of Child Care Month celebrations, Brighouse Pre-School Centre and Little Friends Preschool received Child Care Legacy Awards for demonstrating outstanding service to children and families in Richmond, MLAs Teresa Wat, John Yap and Linda Reid announced today.
The facilities are two of 43 licensed child-care facilities that have supported children and families in their communities for more than 40 years.
“Early learning facilities offer nurturing environments to foster learning and help children reach their potential,” Richmond Centre MLA Teresa Wat said.
“Both Little Friends and Brighouse play an important role in supporting healthy child development in our community,” Richmond-Steveston MLA John Yap said.
“Thank you to the staff at Brighouse Pre-school Centre and Little Friends Pre-school for providing quality child care for our families in Richmond,” Richmond East MLA Linda Reid said.
The Ministry of Children and Family Development will invest $292 million on child care in 2014-15. Through the B.C. Early Years Strategy, the ministry is investing $32 million over the next two years to create up to 2,000 new licensed child-care spaces throughout the province, with the goal of opening up to 13,000 new spaces over the next eight years.
